For a new building ship or yacht, the consultants of Intersona are often involved in the following stages of the project:
- the design stage: calculations, advices, drawings
- the building stage: calculations, advices, inspections
- during sea trials: various measurements
In the design stage of ships and yachts, sophisticated calculations like FEM and / or more simplified noise and vibration calculations are combined with unique experience in recommendations for noise and vibration reducing measures (for example structural modifications, mounting systems, insulation packages, dampening treatment, mufflers etc.). The aim of the proposed measures is to meet the noise and vibration requirements within constraints like weight and costs.
In the building stage of ships and yachts, Intersona is a partner for shipyards to discuss engineering details, calculations etc. related to noise and vibration. Furthermore, noise and vibration related parameters are monitored onboard, for example with natural frequency measurements and visual inspections.
During sea trials, noise and vibration data is collected, analyzed and reported. Furthermore Intersona is specialized in shaft power measurements, bollard pull measure-ments, torsional vibration measurements and in troubleshooting in case of a noise or vibration problem.
In case of a noise or vibration problem, the consultants will carry out specialised measurements in order to get full insight in the root cause of the problem.
Prediction
Thanks to noise level predictions,an optimized sound reducing package can be advised in order to meet the contract levels. With natural frequency calculations, resonance problems can be avoided in an early stage.
Objects
The activities take place on a large variety of maritime objects, for example: cargo vessels, dredgers, suppliers, ferries, tugs, trawlers, tankers, luxury motor yachts, luxury sailing yachts and inland vessels. We are also familiar with noise and vibration measurements onboard planesand (drilling) rigs.
